Creative Update 104 – Jacob Hashimoto’s Gas Giant

Post & Photos by Jason Han – Glendale, CA YP.com

Last weekend I had the privilege of visiting the MOCA Pacific Design Center. Here I saw Jacob Hashimoto’s two floor installation – Gas Giant.

While exploring the vast patterns and objects it lead me to thoughts of bookbinding because of all the black strings that were intertwined with paper. Graphic design also came to mind while looking at clusters of colors and patterns that were within white objects. It reminded me of the process we have as designers – we always start with a blank digital canvas and we build on top of that with colors and objects.

The one question that came to mind at the end was why not use transparent string? That way I thought the illusion of these objects floating would be more realistic. Photos at the drop. Enjoy!

Don’t sleep on this one. Check it out.
