Happy Friday everybody,
This week took me to Chicago for business, and I’ll use it to illustrate how one of my favorite businesses has grown extraordinarily.
It started with me hearing about a café called Intelligentsia in Sunset Junction. I went there and was blown away. Even for a coffee snob like me, the coffee was great and the experience amazing. That’s when I started to learn more about the company. Turns out, they started in Chicago, grew very thoughtfully, then moved West to open at Sunset Junction and now have three locations here. When in Chicago, I went to this store, twice in a row and loved the filter coffee (V60 for you coffee snobs).
Other than the coffee and muffin, I loved the art installation on the wall:
Now the time has come for them to open retail in NYC. I’m particularly impressed by the interior design, so different from their other stores and adapted to their New York environment. Check it out below:
PS: my favorite is still the store on Sunset, though Venice ain’t bad ;’)
